Lady Gaga Mourns Dying Horse Arabella Following Critics' Choice Award Wins

Lady Gaga may have won Best Song and Best Actress, the latter of which she tied with Glenn Close for, during the 2019 Critics' Choice Awards, but her night ended on a more solemn note when she learned that her horse, Arabella, was dying.

After learning of Arabella's condition, Gaga immediately rushed to her side to say her goodbyes. The singer/actress then posted an emotional note to her Instagram, along with a few pictures of her with her gorgeous white horse.

In the note, Gaga explained, "I am so honored and blessed to have won both Best Song and Best Actress alongside Glenn Close this evening. My heart is exploding with pride. But it saddens me to say that just after the show I learned that my dear angel of a horse, Arabella, is dying." She continued, "I am rushing to her now to say goodbye. Her name means 'yield to prayer.' She is and was a beautiful horse. Our souls and spirits were one. When she was in pain, so was I. I will never forget the moments we shared. Long hikes together, galloping through the canyons. Feeding her cookies. She will forever be a part of me. I am so very sad. But I wish for your pain to end, and the gates of heaven to open for you. I love you."

Lady G ended the tribute to Arabella with a lyric from her song Joanne, which was inspired by the death of her Aunt Joanne. She concluded by saying, "Girl, where do you think you're goin?"

Arabella was a gift given to Lady Gaga by her record label, Insterscope, in 2015. Upon receiving the horse, the pop superstar wrote on social media of Arabella, "Today on my doorstep was delivered a White Angel from heaven. It felt like the old days of the record business, she's such a spiritual girl!" She added that she would "ride, and care for, and love her forever."

Prior to the heartbreaking Arabella news, Lady Gaga was having a great night having won two Critics' Choice Awards during the 24th annual awards show, which only builds more anticipation for the upcoming Academy Awards in February. Gaga won for Best Song with A Star Is Born's "Shallow," and tied for Best Actress with Glenn Close. Gaga took home the award for her role as Ally in A Star Is Born while Close won for The Wife.
