Chris Cornell’s Widow Thanks Fans After His Posthumous Grammys Win

On Sunday (January 26), the late Chris Cornell won a Grammy award for Best Recording Package for his posthumous box set, Chris Cornell.

Graphic designers Barry Ament, Jeff Ament, and Joe Spix took home the award for their work on the boxset design.

The career-spanning box set included 15 classic songs and two unreleased tracks.

Cornell's widow, Vicky, took to Twitter to thank everyone involved in the album and sent a sweet message to fans as well. “Chris would be so proud! Thank you for your incredible work, dedication & loud love,” she wrote from her late husband's Twitter account.

She also shared a message on her personal Twitter as well.

“Thank you Jeff & Barry Ament and everyone who put so much love into this,” she wrote. “Huge thanks to all the fans who’s [stet] love & support have carried Chris’s legacy forward- our children & I thank you from the bottom of our hearts for keeping his memory alive.”

In a statement to Variety, Jeff Ament said, “I wish he were here accepting this award with us.” He also detailed how he was approached to do the artwork for the boxset and it happened just a few weeks after learning about the Soundgarden singer's death.

Chris Cornell died May 18, 2017 and his former band, Soungarden, is currently trying to work out releasing a final album but things are at a halt while the surviving members and Vicky come to an agreement.

Soundgarden was also recently announced as a nominee for the 2020 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alongside The Doobie Brothers, Motörhead, Pat Benatar and more.
