Suspect arrested for shooting in early October of 2023
The Minot Police Department has arrested a suspect regarding the Oct. 9, 2023, shooting incident that resulted in the death of Davin Eby Smith, 34, of Minot. Officers arrested Ian W. Abrahamson, 23, of Minot, earlier today for his involvement in the October shooting. Abrahamson is charged with Aggravated Assault with/ a Dangerous Weapon (C Felony) and Manslaughter (B Felony). These charges were finalized after a thorough investigation, and the Attorney General's office reviewed the facts. The Attorney General's office is handling this case due to a conflict at the State's Attorney's Office. Abrahamson was transferred to the Ward County Jail. Abrahamson initially claimed self defense, and is now facing a charge of Manslaughter.
