Elton John shed light on a severe infection he struggled with over the summer (and continues to endure) in a new health update shared to Instagram on Tuesday (September 3).
The "Tiny Dancer" hitmaker is currently experiencing "limited vision" in one eye as a result of an ongoing infection that will "take some time" to heal. John took to Instagram to update fans and followers on the condition, citing a slow healing process and quiet recuperation. The 77-year-old icon also drew attention to the team of nurses and doctor who've guided him along the road to recovery.
"Over the summer, I’ve been dealing with a severe eye infection that has unfortunately left me with only limited vision in one eye. I am healing, but it’s an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye. I am so grateful for the excellent team of doctors and nurses and my family, who have taken such good care of me over the last several weeks."
John closed out his message with positivity regarding the progress he's made so far, sending love and gratitude to fans across the globe. According to Variety, the "I'm Still Standing" star is slated to appear at the Toronto International Film Festival later this week for the premiere of his upcoming documentary, Elton John: Never Too Late, out September 6th, amid recovering from the infection.
Just over a year ago, The Rocket Man was rushed to a hospital in Nice to be assessed for injuries after taking a tumble at his property along the French Rivera that resulted in "brief treatment and a few check ups." He was sent home in good health and did not share any additional information about his well-being...until now.
